Hake with prunes


Ingredients

6 hake fillets
5 sweet and 3 sour plums
1 medium onion, coarsely chopped
3 chopped garlic cloves
1 kilo of potatoes cut into quarters
1 water glass of tomato juice
3 bay leaves
1 cup of olive oil
pepper
oregano

Method

In a casserole heat the oil and add the onions and the garlic and let them get some brown color. Add the potatoes and stir gently to get golden on all sides. Once the potatoes get golden add the tomato juice, the bay leaves, the pepper, the oregano, stir and add a glass of water. Reduce the heat, add the plums and let it boil for 15 minutes. If necessary add a little more water. At the end, place the hake fillets over the potatoes pouring some broth from the food that boils. Allow to cook for another 15 minutes. Serve warm.

The recipe was presented in the episode "BOUKIA KAI SYCHORIO" in Skopelos. The plums used, especially the blond ones, give a sour taste to relish the food. In older years, in Skopelos, they were using blond plums in the food instead of vinegar.
