Skopelos Climate and Geography
Skopelos is located in the island complex of Northern Sporades between Skiathos and Alonissos. It has an area of approximately 96 square kilometers and a perimeter of 67 kilometers. The population does not exceed the five thousand in total and the main occupation of the people is shipping, shipbuilding craft, tourism businesses, processing of wood and ceramics.
It is a green island with pine trees, dense woods and numerous blue-green beaches. It was officially declared as a "Green and Blue Island" by the Biopolitics International Organization and is characterized as the greenest island in the Aegean.
The climate of Skopelos is mild Mediterranean with dry summers and rainy winters. The average annual temperature is 17° C, while the annual average rainfall is 515 mm.
