Old Klima on Skopelos
The Old Klima is located on the southwest side of the island, between Neo Klima and Glossa. It is a picturesque and evergreen little village with stone houses and just 43 permanent residents. Until the 50s the village was divided into two neighborhoods, the Ano and Kato Klima. According to testimonies, the village was created by the habitants of Glossa in the 18th century, as a small rural settlement. In the square there was a big, imposing Terebinth tree known to all as Tsitsiraflos and from there you could see Glossa, Loutraki, Skiathos, even Pelion. After two major earthquakes, Kato Chorio got deserted and the habitants moved to Pano Chorio and Loutraki. The upper village - Ano Chorio - is newer than the lower village –Kato Chorio - and its establishment begun in 1880. It is famous for its festivals and the cheerful people who made the biggest feasts on the island.
