Selinountas on Skopelos

Selinous was one of the three ancient cities of the island which was later called Loutraki. The name has been recorded since the 2^nd century AC, however, there are signs that reveal its most ancient origin. It is reported that the settlement of Selinous was created by Chalkideans in the 8^th century BC. Today the acropolis with walls from the ancient and classical times (5^th -4^th century BC), ancient Roman building remains and some sarcophagi are preserved.
