Selinountas on Skopelos
Selinous was one of the three ancient cities of the island which was later called Loutraki. The name has been recorded since the 2nd century AC, however, there are signs that reveal its most ancient origin. It is reported that the settlement of Selinous was created by Chalkideans in the 8th century BC. Today the acropolis with walls from the ancient and classical times (5th -4th century BC), ancient Roman building remains and some sarcophagi are preserved.
